The work English and Dutch warships and Tunis galeasses before a fortified port, traditionally identified as Valetta by Peter van de Velde was auctioned at Christies in London in April 2005. It achieved a price of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,433.22), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 40%. Admittedly, works by Peter van de Velde have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ansicht von Antwerpen mit Schiffen auf See. in March 2007 with an auction result of CHF 90,000.00 (€ 55,491.25).

Die Arbeit English and Dutch warships and Tunis galeasses before a fortified port, traditionally identified as Valetta von Peter van de Velde kam im April 2005 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 8.400,00 (€ 12.433,22) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 40%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter van de Velde auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ansicht von Antwerpen mit Schiffen auf See. im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 90.000,00 (€ 55.491,25).
