In October 2014 Christies in London held the auction Topographical Pictures, which included the work A street scene, Durban by Pieter Willem Frederick Wenning. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 17,500.00 (€ 22,344.97), 17% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pieter Willem Frederick Wenning - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cottages at Claremont, which sold at auction in December 2008 for GBP 46,850.00 (€ 49,206.13).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Im Oktober 2014 führte Christies in London die Auktion Topographical Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A street scene, Durban von Pieter Willem Frederick Wenning zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 22.344,97) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Pieter Willem Frederick Wenning mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cottages at Claremont beobachtet, die im Dezember 2008 für GBP 46.850,00 (€ 49.206,13) versteigert wurde.
