Auction result misses estimated price range

In May 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of Henry Lunt, Jr., Circa 1805 by Raphaelle Peale for USD 14,400.00 (€ 11,221.07). This price was achieved in the auction Fine American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver and Prints at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Raphaelle Peale achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life with Liqueur and Fruit in December 2002 with an auction result of USD 1,021,500.00 (€ 974,248.93).
