In December this year Christies in London held the auction The Sam Josefowitz Collection: Graphic Masterpieces by Rembrandt van Rijn, which included the work A Peasant calling out: ‘Tis vinnich kout'; & A Peasant replying: ‘Dats Niet’ by Rembrandt van Rijn. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 40,320.00 (€ 46,447.09), 61% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rembrandt van Rijn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 19,803,750.00 (€ 31,547,196.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 61 % übertroffen
Im Dezember diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion The Sam Josefowitz Collection: Graphic Masterpieces by Rembrandt van Rijn durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Peasant calling out: ‘Tis vinnich kout'; & A Peasant replying: ‘Dats Niet’ von Rembrandt van Rijn zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 40.320,00 (€ 46.447,09) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rembrandt van Rijn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.803.750,00 (€ 31.547.196,55).
