The work Buste d'un vieil homme à la longue barbe: la tête inclinée vers l'avant, l'épaule gauche non ombragée by Rembrandt van Rijn was worth EUR 19,200.00 to a buyer in June this year. This price was achieved in the auction Alain Delon 60 Years of Passion at Bonhams in Paris and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of EUR 6,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rembrandt van Rijn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 19,803,750.00 (€ 31,547,196.55).

Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Alain Delon 60 Years of Passion bei Bonhams in Paris erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 6.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rembrandt van Rijn erzielen.
