Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Iris, 1989 by Robert Mapplethorpe was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2005. The price achieved of USD 26,400.00 (€ 22,009.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Mapplethorpe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self-Portrait in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 548,750.00 (€ 625,682.41).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Die Arbeit Iris, 1989 von Robert Mapplethorpe kam im Oktober 2005 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 26.400,00 (€ 22.009,17) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Mapplethorpe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Self-Portrait im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 548.750,00 (€ 625.682,41).
