It achieved a price of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,019.32), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 53%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ryuryukyo Shinsai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Edo Period (1615-1868), Circa 1820 in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 37,812.50 (€ 32,661.74).

Die Arbeit Smoking pipe and lacquer box with brocade bag von Ryuryukyo Shinsai wurde im Juli 2019 in der Auktion From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.019,32) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 53%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ryuryukyo Shinsai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Edo Period (1615-1868), Circa 1820 im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 37.812,50 (€ 32.661,74).
