Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Mountainous Landscape With St Jerome Beneath A Craggy Rock by Salvator Rosa was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2016. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 70,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 75,000.00 (€ 87,687.17). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Salvator Rosa achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of the artist, half-length, in a brown doublet in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 769,250.00 (€ 924,936.45).
