Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sunrise on the Seashore by Sanford Robinson Gifford was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 241,500.00 (€ 228,304.03). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sanford Robinson Gifford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Lake Twilight in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 2,900,000.00 (€ 2,601,130.15).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sunrise on the Seashore von Sanford Robinson Gifford im November 2016 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 241.500,00 (€ 228.304,03) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sanford Robinson Gifford erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Lake Twilight im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.900.000,00 (€ 2.601.130,15).
