Auction result well in line with expectations

The work A moonlit river landscape with figures fishing and a cottage on the shore by Sebastian Pether was sold in the Christie's Interiors - Masters and Makers auction at Christies in London in September 2010. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,445.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sebastian Pether achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vesuvius erupting by moonlight in July last year with an auction result of GBP 20,400.00 (€ 24,361.22).

Die Arbeit A moonlit river landscape with figures fishing and a cottage on the shore von Sebastian Pether wurde im September 2010 in der Auktion Christie's Interiors - Masters and Makers bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.445,76) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sebastian Pether erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Vesuvius erupting by moonlight im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.400,00 (€ 24.361,22).
