Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Peony by Shang Shengbo was auctioned at Bonhams in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 1,353.00 (€ 822.04). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shang Shengbo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Peaches in May 2008 with an auction result of HKD 150,000.00 (€ 12,348.97).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Peony von Shang Shengbo im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 2.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 1.353,00 (€ 822,04) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Shang Shengbo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Peaches im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 150.000,00 (€ 12.348,97).
