Auction result well in line with expectations
The work La cascade dans la Grotte de Neptune à Tivoli by Simon Denis was sold in the Tableaux 1400-1900 auction at Christies in Paris in September 2016. The price achieved of EUR 15,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simon Denis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View Of Monticelli, Near Tivoli in February 2013 with an auction result of USD 242,500.00 (€ 185,411.73).
