Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait study of King George IV in highland dress at Holyrood Palace; and An archer and a group of women at Holyrood Palace by David Wilkie was sold in the Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in December 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,395.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Wilkie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Spanish Girl in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 363,650.00 (€ 522,024.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait study of King George IV in highland dress at Holyrood Palace; and An archer and a group of women at Holyrood Palace von David Wilkie wurde im Dezember 2012 in der Auktion Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours bei Christies in London versteigert.
