In April 2019 Christies in New York held the auction European Art, which included the work Holiday Time by George Clausen. The »bidding war« ended at USD 531,000.00 (€ 474,064.82), 52% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Clausen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gleaners, which sold at auction in November 2004 for GBP 710,850.00 (€ 1,022,553.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 52 % übertroffen
Im April 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Holiday Time von George Clausen zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 531.000,00 (€ 474.064,82) und damit 52% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Clausen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Gleaners beobachtet, die im November 2004 für GBP 710.850,00 (€ 1.022.553,89) versteigert wurde.
