This artwork by John Lavery achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2013. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work Tennis, Hotel Beau Site, Cannes sold for GBP 890,500.00 (€ 1,071,597.57) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Lavery; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Terrace, Cap d'Ail sold at auction in July 2021 with the realized price of GBP 1,162,500.00 (€ 1,363,272.29).
