Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Baby In A High Chair by Stanley Spencer was sold in the Modern & Post-War British Art Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in June 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 106,250.00 (€ 120,080.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stanley Spencer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christ Preaching At Cookham Regatta: Conversation Between Punts in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 6,018,500.00 (€ 7,242,459.25).

Die Arbeit Baby In A High Chair von Stanley Spencer wurde im Juni 2018 in der Auktion Modern & Post-War British Art Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 106.250,00 (€ 120.080,61) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Stanley Spencer erzielen.
