In October 2006 Christies in London held the auction Travel and Natural History, which included the work The islands of Pontikonissi and Vlacherna, Corfu by Spyridon Scarvelli. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,560.00 (€ 2,330.78), 30% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Spyridon Scarvelli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Piraeus in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,488.22).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 30 % übertroffen

Im Oktober 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion Travel and Natural History durch, in der auch die Arbeit The islands of Pontikonissi and Vlacherna, Corfu von Spyridon Scarvelli zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.560,00 (€ 2.330,78) und damit 30% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Spyridon Scarvelli erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Piraeus im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.000,00 (€ 26.488,22).
