Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction European Art, which included the work British The Huckster by Stanhope Alexander Forbes. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 81,250.00 (€ 69,622.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Stanhope Alexander Forbes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Quarry Team, which sold at auction in July 2018 for GBP 237,500.00 (€ 266,289.72).
