Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Stephen Reid could be acquired at Christies in London in September 2002 for an unexpectedly low price. In the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS auction, the work Two allegorical tondos of Venus and Cupid changed hands for GBP 58.75 (€ 93.37) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stephen Reid achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Wife of Bath's Tale in September 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 14,746.00).
