Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An amorous couple under a mosquito net (kaya) by Suzuki Harunobu was sold in the Fine Japanese Prints auction at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,260.00 (€ 1,502.92) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Suzuki Harunobu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Furyu enshoku Maneemon (Fashionable lusty Maneemon) in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 144,000.00 (€ 107,671.60).
