Auction result misses estimated price range
In March last year a collector was able to acquire the work Ofuji of Motoyanagiya the Tooth Brush Shop with a Female Customer by Suzuki Harunobu for USD 14,000.00 (€ 12,620.57). This price was achieved in the auction Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Suzuki Harunobu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Furyu enshoku Maneemon (Fashionable lusty Maneemon) in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 144,000.00 (€ 107,671.60).
