The scene organised around the lifeless body of Christ on the tombstone, a bucket containing the instruments of the embalmment in the foreground; his Mother behind extending her arms in mourning, attended by two angels bearing torches, Joseph of Arimathea, Salome and Mary Magdalene at his head, John the Evangelist, the other Maria and Nicodemos at his feet; two seraphs overlooking the event, above a gold cupola, Christ's Cross in the background
