This artwork by Thomas Allom achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in June this year. In the Travel & Exploration Sale auction, the work 'Monastery of St George of the Precipice on the Sea of Marmora', Turkey sold for GBP 12,800.00 (€ 14,897.00) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Allom have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Sack of Corinth in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 51,650.00 (€ 64,353.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Allom erzielte im Juni diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Travel & Exploration Sale wurde die Arbeit 'Monastery of St George of the Precipice on the Sea of Marmora', Turkey für GBP 12.800,00 (€ 14.897,00) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Allom auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Sack of Corinth im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 51.650,00 (€ 64.353,63).
