This artwork by Thomas Arrowsmith achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2007. In the Portrait Miniatures & Objects of Vertu auction, the work A gentleman, in blue coat, white waistcoat and cravat sold for GBP 660.00 (€ 971.44) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Arrowsmith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Henry Hoste Henley (1766-1833), Full-Length, With Dogs in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,312.55).
