In September last year Christies in New York held the auction Indian and Himalayan Art Online featuring The John C. and Susan L. Huntington Collection, which included the work Five Handpainted Aquatints From Oriental Scenery And Hindoo Excavations In The Mountain Of Ellora by Thomas Daniell. The »bidding war« ended at USD 9,450.00 (€ 9,659.61), 58% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Daniell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The entrance of an excavated Hindu cave temple at Mahabalipuram on the Coromandel Coast in January this year with an auction result of USD 1,071,000.00 (€ 986,369.50).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen

Im September letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Indian and Himalayan Art Online featuring The John C. and Susan L. Huntington Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Five Handpainted Aquatints From Oriental Scenery And Hindoo Excavations In The Mountain Of Ellora von Thomas Daniell zur Versteigerung kam.
