Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Maritime, which included the work The Kaluna passing a coast by Thomas Willis. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,080.00 (€ 846.13) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Willis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The bark Pilgrim in December 2000 with an auction result of USD 17,625.00 (€ 18,773.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Maritime durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Kaluna passing a coast von Thomas Willis zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.080,00 (€ 846,13) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Willis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The bark Pilgrim im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 17.625,00 (€ 18.773,97).
