Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art, which included the work Tsuki hyakushi (One hundred aspects of the moon) by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. Here, the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 75,000.00 (€ 66,797.29). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tsuki junidai (Twelve aspects of the moon), which sold at auction in September 2007 for USD 241,000.00 (€ 169,491.53).
