Auction result well in line with expectations
In September last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art, which included the work Unknown by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. The price achieved of USD 3,187.50 (€ 3,258.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tsuki junidai (Twelve aspects of the moon) in September 2007 with an auction result of USD 241,000.00 (€ 169,491.53).
