A yoroidoshi tanto (armor piercing dagger)
Edo period (1615-1868), circa 1850
Hirazukuri, iorimune, slight sakizori, with a wide kasane, forged in itame hada in jinie, the tempered edge notare mixed with ko-gunome with nie, nioi, kinsuji, sunagashi and inazuma, carved on both sides with bohi, the ubu tang with one hole and kiri file marks, signed Mimasaka no kuni Katsuyama Shin Uenori, 11 5/16in (28.6cm) long, 5/16in (1.1cm) across at the munemachi, with a one-piece copper habaki, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard
