Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Fine Japanese Prints, which included the work Evening Bell at Ikegami (Ikegami bansho) by Utagawa Hiroshige. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 5,040.00 (€ 6,011.66). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Hiroshige achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tokaido gojusan tsugi no uchi (The fifty-three stations of the Tokaido) in September 2002 with an auction result of USD 207,500.00 (€ 210,041.50).
