Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Five oban tate-e print diptychs by Utagawa Kunisada was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Bonhams in New York in March last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,040.00 (€ 1,839.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kunisada achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Edo period (1615-1868), 1857 in March last year with an auction result of USD 47,812.50 (€ 43,101.51).
