Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A scene of women at a bathhouse from the play Famous Places in Japan: A Thousand Cherry Blossom Trees (Yamato meisho senbonzakura) by Utagawa Kunisada was sold in the Fine Japanese Prints auction at Sothebys in London in December 2021. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 4,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 4,410.00 (€ 5,260.20). Admittedly, works by Utagawa Kunisada have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Edo period (1615-1868), 1857 in March last year with an auction result of USD 47,812.50 (€ 43,101.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A scene of women at a bathhouse from the play Famous Places in Japan: A Thousand Cherry Blossom Trees (Yamato meisho senbonzakura) von Utagawa Kunisada wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Fine Japanese Prints bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 4.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 4.410,00 (€ 5.260,20) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Utagawa Kunisada auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Edo period (1615-1868), 1857 im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.812,50 (€ 43.101,51).
