The »bidding war« ended at USD 60,480.00 (€ 54,520.87), 51% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Kuniyoshi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mitsukuni Defying The Skeleton Spectre Conjured Up By Princess Takiyasha (Souma No Furudairi Yokai Ga Shadokuro To Tatakau Oya Notarou Mitsukuni) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 234,848.90).
