Upper estimate price exceeded by 73 %.
The work Ujigawa kassen no zu (The battle of Uji River) by Utagawa Kuniyoshi was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Christies in New York in March this year. It achieved a price of USD 6,930.00 (€ 6,374.17), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 73%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kuniyoshi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mitsukuni Defying The Skeleton Spectre Conjured Up By Princess Takiyasha (Souma No Furudairi Yokai Ga Shadokuro To Tatakau Oya Notarou Mitsukuni) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 234,848.90).
