This artwork by Vernon de Beauvoir Ward achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in August 2001. In the BRITISH & CONTINENTAL PICTURES auction, the work Two swans under a tree in blossom sold for GBP 1,880.00 (€ 3,000.97) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Vernon de Beauvoir Ward; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Swans, Ducks And Moorhens sold at auction in November 2005 with the realized price of GBP 2,400.00 (€ 3,525.90).
