Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Amarillis And Mirtillo by Victor Wolfvoet II was auctioned at Christies in New York in June last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 18,900.00 (€ 18,053.30). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Victor Wolfvoet II - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Esther before Ahasuerus, which sold at auction in December 2019 for GBP 31,312.00 (€ 37,007.12).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Amarillis And Mirtillo von Victor Wolfvoet II im Juni letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 18.900,00 (€ 18.053,30) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Victor Wolfvoet II mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Esther before Ahasuerus beobachtet, die im Dezember 2019 für GBP 31.312,00 (€ 37.007,12) versteigert wurde.
