Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Danish Portræt Af Ida (Portrait Of Ida) by Vilhelm Hammershøi was auctioned at Sothebys in London in June 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 26,250.00 (€ 30,803.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vilhelm Hammershøi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Stue (Interior with an Oval Mirror) in May last year with an auction result of USD 6,300,000.00 (€ 5,870,841.49).
