This artwork by Vilhelm Hammershøi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2018. In the European Art: Part I auction, the work Interior with an Easel, Bredgade 25 sold for USD 5,037,500.00 (€ 4,445,375.93) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Vilhelm Hammershøi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Stue (Interior with an Oval Mirror) sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 6,300,000.00 (€ 5,870,841.49).
