Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Afternoon Light by Walter Launt Palmer was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,000.00 (€ 2,736.73). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Launt Palmer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Winter Forest in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 198,000.00 (€ 147,179.07).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Afternoon Light von Walter Launt Palmer im Oktober 2016 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.000,00 (€ 2.736,73) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Launt Palmer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Winter Forest im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 198.000,00 (€ 147.179,07).
