Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of George William Lovell, seated at his desk, three-quarter length by Walter William Ouless for GBP 480.00 (€ 708.63). This price was achieved in the auction THE ROYAL & SUNALLIANCE COLLECTION at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Walter William Ouless have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Charles Wigley Wicksted (1837-1906), Master of The Ludlow Foxhounds, Half-Length, In Hunting Dress in October 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,729.97).
