Auction result well in line with expectations
In December last year Bonhams held the auction The Gift of Photographs, which included the work Elizabeth Taylor by Weegee. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,020.00 (€ 953.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Weegee achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Weegee Portfolio in October 2019 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,028.69).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion The Gift of Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Elizabeth Taylor von Weegee zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.020,00 (€ 953,45) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Weegee erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Weegee Portfolio im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.028,69).
