Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Giraffes by Wilhelm Kuhnert was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 212,500.00 (€ 152,669.01). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wilhelm Kuhnert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work German Grollende Löwen, which sold at auction in February 2019 for USD 645,000.00 (€ 566,833.64).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Giraffes von Wilhelm Kuhnert im Dezember 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 212.500,00 (€ 152.669,01) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Wilhelm Kuhnert mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit German Grollende Löwen beobachtet, die im Februar 2019 für USD 645.000,00 (€ 566.833,64) versteigert wurde.
