Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Dutch shipping in a naval anchorage in a light breeze by Willem van de Velde II was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2016. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,911.62) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van de Velde II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch men-o'-war and other shipping in a calm in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 5,921,250.00 (€ 7,091,533.28).

Die Arbeit Dutch shipping in a naval anchorage in a light breeze von Willem van de Velde II kam im Juli 2016 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.911,62) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem van de Velde II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dutch men-o'-war and other shipping in a calm im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.921.250,00 (€ 7.091.533,28).
