Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2000 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES, which included the work A steamship in choppy seas by William Ayerst Ingram. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 446.50 (€ 730.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Ayerst Ingram have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work At Anchor in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 2,640.00 (€ 3,920.48).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit A steamship in choppy seas von William Ayerst Ingram zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 446,50 (€ 730,00) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Ayerst Ingram auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit At Anchor im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.640,00 (€ 3.920,48).
