Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Copperas Gap, Near Shoreham by William Henry Stothard Scott was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 112.50 (€ 152.87). Admittedly, works by William Henry Stothard Scott have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View of Dover Harbour looking towards the Castle in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 900.00 (€ 1,306.30).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Copperas Gap, Near Shoreham von William Henry Stothard Scott im Dezember 2007 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 400,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 112,50 (€ 152,87) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Henry Stothard Scott auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit View of Dover Harbour looking towards the Castle im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 900,00 (€ 1.306,30).
