Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work On the Irwell, near Clifton, Manchester by William Hull was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 179.25 (€ 268.32). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Hull - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Welsh mountain stream, which sold at auction in April 2003 for GBP 705.00 (€ 918.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit On the Irwell, near Clifton, Manchester von William Hull im März 2004 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 400,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 179,25 (€ 268,32) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von William Hull mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Welsh mountain stream beobachtet, die im April 2003 für GBP 705,00 (€ 918,57) versteigert wurde.
