Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2005 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel with The Polar Sale, which included the work The Snow Brig Arethusa off Cape Town by William John Huggins. The price achieved of GBP 4,800.00 (€ 7,044.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by William John Huggins have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Opium Ships At Lintin, China, 1824 in April 2011 with an auction result of GBP 37,250.00 (€ 41,949.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion Exploration and Travel with The Polar Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Snow Brig Arethusa off Cape Town von William John Huggins zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.800,00 (€ 7.044,35) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William John Huggins auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Opium Ships At Lintin, China, 1824 im April 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 37.250,00 (€ 41.949,92).
