Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2020 Christies in London held the auction Out of Office: Art that Transports, which included the work A Royal Navy schooner off Port Royal, Kingston, Jamaica by William John Huggins. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,259.95) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by William John Huggins have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Opium Ships At Lintin, China, 1824 in April 2011 with an auction result of GBP 37,250.00 (€ 41,949.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion Out of Office: Art that Transports durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Royal Navy schooner off Port Royal, Kingston, Jamaica von William John Huggins zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.259,95) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William John Huggins auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Opium Ships At Lintin, China, 1824 im April 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 37.250,00 (€ 41.949,92).
