This artwork by William Merritt Chase achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January last year. In the 19th Century American Art auction, the work Still Life Pans and Vegetables sold for USD 52,500.00 (€ 46,824.83) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Merritt Chase achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work I Think I Am Ready Now (The Mirror, The Pink Dress) in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 6,649,000.00 (€ 4,273,136.25).

Dieses Kunstwerk von William Merritt Chase erzielte im Januar letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 19th Century American Art wurde die Arbeit Still Life Pans and Vegetables für USD 52.500,00 (€ 46.824,83) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Merritt Chase erzielen.
