Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Children on the beach by William Samuel Jay was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 960.00 (€ 1,416.20). Other works by William Samuel Jay have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2005 by the work Golden Glow at GBP 1,560.00 (€ 2,271.98).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Children on the beach von William Samuel Jay im September 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 960,00 (€ 1.416,20) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von William Samuel Jay wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im März 2005 die Arbeit Golden Glow mit GBP 1.560,00 (€ 2.271,98).
